Our moods, emotions and internal stories affect our perception of pain and even our ability to heal. The experiences in our history influence our biology. Pain can be emotional or physical, but usually is both. While treatments like medication or physical therapy can be beneficial to the body, in order to maximise pain relief it is also necessary to learn skills to work with mental states, the breath, and reactivity.
Join renowned Canadian yoga teacher and psychotherapist Michael Stone for a special workshop in which, using supine meditation practice, guided meditation, role-play, and clinical studies, we will learn how to:
- understand how emotions and thoughts affect physical symptoms
- prevent pain from becoming chronic or long-term
- lift the anxiety and depression that may accompany chronic pain
- recognise and reverse the debilitating effects of burnout for caregivers
*This workshop is also open to people caring for the elderly or supporting family members who are ill.
